A Topping on a Cake.

Nobody, man or woman wants a liability. Everybody wants an asset, an addition, a bonus, a cherry on an ice cream, a topping on a cake.
And this my readers, is why you have to say goodbye to giving up and try harder.
Sometimes when my Mum calls me as a form of prayer and assurance, she will say, 'God will let you meet a fortunate man, someone that will take care of you in 'every area', finance included of course.
Yesterday, it dawned on me that classes and calibres are not just trash talk, they are for real.
Right now, I am living around Ipaja, Ayobo area in Lagos, it is going to be difficult for a 'fresh' guy from Lekki or Banana Island who has some dough and has a responsible job to come to my area just to ask me out.
Come to think of it, I have never even been to Banana Island, how will somebody who stays there ask me out? When our paths do not cross.
Now, do not get me wrong, there is one in a thousand chance that the guy might stop by and approach me with 'good intentions' but it is not surreal.
The highest he will do is to drive past but imagine I probably still stay around my area and I have a 'nice' car, nothing too elaborate but still comfortable and I am driving and there is a slight accident then he would notice me, right? Yeah, that's what I am talking about.
The days when guys date girls even though they cannot bring anything to the table are over. You've got to measure up. I am not saying we should go to Lekki and go and be doing call girls but if you want a Lekki guy, you have to measure up and be a prospective Lekki babe and same goes for guys, if you do not have contacts with rich girls you can not be in their life, be rich and rich girls will want to be in your life.
I know it is not easy to make money, I am there right now but this youthfulness we have is a bonus to us.
Discover what you like doing.
Think up creative ideas around it, if possible go for trainings or conference talks or read a book.
Build a social profile (It helps to, Socials can get you anywhere).
Get out there.
Keep doing your thing, do not give up.
Mingle with the right people.
Make your own cash.
Be comfortable on your own and then your fresh dough full Yoruba angel will be a topping on your cake because nobody wants to be the cake.
You have to be your own cake.
Olufunlola.
